U Visit One Day
After a delicious breakfast at U Antwerp, U can enjoy a unique visit to Antwerp.
Everything is within walking distance.
As U leave the front entrance of U Antwerp, U will find yourself in a trendy neighbourhood, with the Museum Aan de Stroom (MAS) right in front of U. This is where the city centre and the port – the second-largest in Europe – meet and come together. The MAS is a perfect reflection of these two worlds: a great piece of architecture combined with an impressive museum collection. On the ninth floor, U will find ’t Zilte, the two-star Michelin restaurant of renowned chef Viki Geunes. Right at the top, U can walk out on the large roof terrace, which has a fantastic view of the whole city. A visit to the MAS is a great way to start your journey of discovery through Antwerp.
Afterwards, we recommend U take a pleasant stroll along the Scheldt quays towards the historic city centre, taking in the mighty Scheldt River and the elegant buildings along the water's edge.
U Antwerp is only 1 km from the historic centre of Antwerp. So it is easily within walking distance. U can also take a tram on the new tramline, which stops right outside U Antwerp.
U can walk or take the tram to the impressive Central Station – voted by Newsweek as the fourth most beautiful station in the world – which is a great place to start your day in Antwerp. The completely renovated station is definitely a sight worth seeing!
Close by are the world-famous Diamond District and the Antwerp Zoo. If U want to savour the sights and sounds of a multicultural neighbourhood, we recommend U visit the Jewish Quarter or Chinatown.
The Meir is only a short walk away. A visit to the impressive Stadsfeestzaal shopping centre is a must. A little further along, on the Wapper Square, U will find the Rubens House. Here U can step into the baroque world of one of the greatest painters in history: Pieter Paul Rubens.
The Theatre Square, with its wonderful porch in front of the theatre, is a great place to stop and watch the city go by.
Afterwards, U can walk along the Schuttershofstraat and the Leopoldstraat via the Bourla Theatre to the Botanical Garden. An ideal place to sit down and relax.
In the Wilde Zee U will find lots of nice restaurants for lunch, as well as shops where U can buy the famous Antwerp hands and chocolate.
A visit to the MoMu Fashion Museum, followed by a bit of shopping in the surrounding fashion district with stores by designers such as Dries Van Noten, Stephan Schneider, Anna Heylen and Ra
will give a perfect impression of Antwerp fashion.
Another eye-catching building is the breathtaking Cathedral of Our Lady.
Finally, if U want, U can end the day by taking a boat trip on the Scheldt River. From the boat, U will have a great view of the river that has played such an important role in the history of Antwerp.
And that brings U back to where U started: Het Eilandje.
On U Antwerp’s trendy terrace U can catch your breath and look back on all the sights and sounds of the day. With a delicious cocktail, of course.
As evening falls, we invite U to visit the trendy U Antwerp restaurant. Here U can enjoy the contemporary cuisine of the master chefs Viki Geunes and Tommy Cavaliere.
